Solar and battery savings estimator

Explain the savings behind the proposal.

ArcSolar’s savings estimator connects the proposed solar or battery system to the customer’s energy profile. Compare current and estimated future costs, then explain the assumptions behind the difference.

A battery proposal should explain which energy use and tariff assumptions support the estimate.

What you can do

Make the assumptions easy to explain

01

Use the right consumption baseline

Select household use or grid purchases from the bill. Existing solar can supply energy that never appears as imported electricity.

02

Reflect how the home uses power

Review daytime, evening and overnight demand, load flexibility, system size and battery capacity before relying on the displayed comparison.

03

Show a defensible customer estimate

Check the cost baseline, future costs and savings together. Confirm whether finance repayments or recurring benefits are included before sharing the quote.

Setup and workflow

Put it to work in ArcSolar

The example explains consumption basis; it is not a savings forecast. Use reviewed customer inputs and inspect the customer preview before sending.

  1. 1

    Prepare the energy profile

Confirm usage evidence, average bill, tariff type, supply charge and feed-in rate. Use the actual bill rates if a listed plan does not match the contract.

  2. 2

    Review the proposed change

For an existing solar customer, confirm whether the system will stay, expand or be replaced. Check the generation and battery assumptions offered.

  3. 3

    Explain the consumption gap

Illustrative example: 4,000 kWh of grid imports plus 2,000 kWh of solar used on site means 6,000 kWh of household use. Entering 4,000 as total use understates demand.

Questions

Before you get started

Are savings or payback guaranteed?

No. Generation, consumption timing, exports, battery losses and tariff changes affect the result. Present the output as an estimate with its assumptions.

Can we estimate from one recent bill?

Use the available evidence, but explain its seasonal limits. Annual statements or interval data can reveal usage patterns that a single bill cannot establish.

What if the inputs are not reliable enough?

Resolve warnings and check the preview. If the evidence cannot support a useful comparison, use the available omit-savings option and explain the missing inputs.
