Time-of-use battery savings proposals

Explain when the battery saves money.

A time-of-use battery proposal needs more than a daily consumption total. Review the customer tariff and usage timing in ArcSolar so the savings explanation reflects when electricity is bought, used and exported.

Check the actual bill rates and tariff. A plan found in a search is not proof that its prices match the customer current electricity contract.

What changes for your team

Explain when the battery saves money.

01

Use the customer contract

Check the actual bill rates and tariff. A plan found in a search is not proof that its prices match the customer current electricity contract.

02

Keep rate types separate

Import charges, feed-in credits and daily supply charges play different roles. Do not use an export credit as the price of purchased electricity.

03

Review timing assumptions

Daytime, evening and overnight demand affect the comparison. Explain the selected usage pattern and the limits of any missing interval evidence.

Setup and example

Try the workflow in your demo

Confirm plan access, staff permissions and the connected workspace setup before using this workflow with a real customer. Checklist: compare the same period, rate units, supply charge, feed-in credit and demand timing.

  1. 1

    Read the tariff

Review the bill period, peak and off-peak rates and supply charge. Use manual bill rates when the listed plan is unavailable or does not match.

  2. 2

    Build the usage profile

Review demand timing, flexibility, battery capacity and generation assumptions together. Inspect the displayed baseline and future costs before quoting a saving.

  3. 3

    Explain one unit of energy

Illustrative comparison: avoiding 1 kWh bought at $0.45 differs from avoiding it at $0.20. Charging cost, losses and foregone export credits still affect the net benefit.

Questions

Before you get started

Is the example a savings forecast?

No. It illustrates tariff timing only. It excludes losses, charging costs and exports, so it cannot be used as the promised saving from a battery installation.

Can we flatten several tariffs into one?

Do not silently replace different tariff periods with one rate. Explain any simplification and ensure the customer comparison remains supported by the available evidence.

Does a forecast guarantee payback?

No. Usage timing, battery losses, generation and changing tariffs affect outcomes. Present the estimate with its assumptions and inspect the customer preview.
