Define what the customer wants to power
- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) powers individual appliances from the vehicle. It does not establish a whole-home backup installation.
- Vehicle-to-home (V2H) supplies a home; vehicle-to-grid (V2G) exports to the electricity grid. Confirm which outcome the customer actually needs.
- DCCEEW says not every EV or charging system supports V2X, and supported types differ. Obtain the vehicle and charger manufacturer’s compatibility information and check battery-warranty conditions.

Keep site work and financial assumptions explicit
Give the licensed installer the exact models, parking location and intended use for assessment. Record additional electrical work and any connection requirements they identify.
Treat potential export income as conditional on the customer’s energy-retailer arrangement and export timing. Equipment compatibility alone is not a financial forecast.
Example: an appliance socket is not a home-backup promise
Illustrative enquiry: a customer shows a V2L socket and asks to power the home during an outage. Request manufacturer confirmation of V2H capability and the compatible charging equipment. Keep the backup scope unresolved until the installer has assessed the proposed combination.
Verify the actual combination
This checklist is not a compatibility database or installation certification. Confirm current manufacturer documents for the specific models and site. It does not establish V2G control, commissioning or backup engineering in ArcSolar.
Give each outstanding assessment an owner
Use an ArcSolar demo to review the customer record and documented field-work preparation. Keep the use case, manufacturer evidence and outstanding installer decisions together.
